Understanding Yog Nidra

Is all sleeping restful? No! Deep sleep is restful. Yes! Are we deep sleeping every night when we hit the pillow? Sometimes not. Why? Many factors, like stress, physical fitness, activity during the day and emotions, play a role in our sleep.

Yoga Nidra is deep sleep, or very restful, meditative sleep. This sleep is with awareness, and it can initiate rest in the physical, emotional, and mental body. It takes a series of classes to realise the benefit of this meditative sleep. Give it a shot, however esoteric it may be, and enjoy your deepest rest!
